How do I get support for my linked account?

How do I unlink my Bluemix account with my SoftLayer account?

After accounts are linked, they cannot be unlinked.

When am I billed?

Your Bluemix usage cycle is on a calendar month basis, so your account is billed each month on the first of the month. With SoftLayer, your usage cycle begins from when you started with SoftLayer, so you are billed each month on the same day of the month as when you signed up for your SoftLayer account.

Do my SoftLayer discounts apply to the Bluemix services?

Account level discounts apply for the entire account, and that would include billed Bluemix services.

Can I link a Bluemix subscription account?

All linked accounts in Bluemix must be Pay-As-You-Go accounts. You can create a new Pay-As-You-Go account or link an existing Pay-As-You-Go account. Or, you can link an existing trial account, but it will be upgraded to a Pay-As-You-Go account.

I have a new SoftLayer account that uses IBM id for authentication. Can I use the same ID for both SoftLayer and Bluemix?

Yes, you can use your same IBM id to log into SoftLayer and Bluemix.

I'm a member of a SoftLayer account, how do I get access to a linked Bluemix account?

A SoftLayer Master User needs to link accounts and then explicitly invite you to the Bluemix account. Once that happens, you will receive an email from Bluemix letting you know that you were invited. Until then, we welcome you to register for a 30 day trial of Bluemix to get acquainted!

Who can link accounts?

Only SoftLayer Master Users can link SoftLayer and Bluemix accounts. A Master User's email must also be associated to the primary owner of the Bluemix account being linked.

How do I link a Bluemix account?

If you are the Master User on your SoftLayer account, login to the SoftLayer Customer portal and click Link a Bluemix Account! in the header.

What will I use to login to each portal?

Although your account billing will be linked and you will be able to move between your SoftLayer and Bluemix accounts easily, your account identities will remain separate.

  • For users in accounts that do NOT use IBM id for authentication, continue to use your SoftLayer ID for SoftLayer products and services, and use your IBM id for Bluemix products and services. 
  • For users in accounts that use IBM id for authentication, you use your IBM id to access both your SoftLayer and your Bluemix accounts.
I linked a Bluemix account, how do I give my other SoftLayer team members access?

You need invite them to Bluemix. In the Bluemix user interface, go to the Account and Support icon > Account > Invite Team Members. After you've selected an organization and some spaces, you'll see an option to add SoftLayer team members. Because identities between the two consoles are still separate, you will have to log into SoftLayer before you can send invitations. Click on the option, where you are prompted to log into SoftLayer. Bluemix gets the list of SoftLayer users, and then you can select which users to invite to the Bluemix account.

Where do I see my Bluemix charges?

After you've linked your accounts, your Bluemix charges are now in your SoftLayer invoice under the Bluemix section. For live Bluemix usage info, head to the Usage Dashboard in the Bluemix account menu.

Can I change the credit card information on my Bluemix account?

After you've linked your accounts, you can no longer update the credit card information on your Bluemix accountafter the current billing cycle closes.  When the next billing cycle starts, you must make changes in your SoftLayer account. The credit card on an account may be changed at any time on the Monthly Payment Method screen in the Customer Portal. A valid credit card must be associated with the account at all times to avoid missing a payment. For detailed instructions on changing the monthly payment method for an account, refer to Add a Payment Method.
