A reboot is one of the most basic actions a user may take on a device. Rebooting a device results in the immediate powering off and then back on of your device and is done for many reasons, often specific to the device and/or business needs of the individual user. Device reboots may take place from both the Device List and from the Device View of an individual device. Both Bare Metal Servers and Virtual Servers may be rebooted at any time. Follow the steps below to reboot a device.
Reboot a Device
- Access the Device List. Refer to Access the Device List.
- Click the Actions drop down list for the device.
- Select Reboot.
- Click the Yes button to reboot the device. Click the No button to cancel the action.
What Happens Next
After clicking the Yes button, the reboot cycle will begin. The device will automatically be powered off and powered back on again, cycling through the shut down and start up processes. During the reboot process, the device will be offline and unavailable. When the start up process has completed, the device will be available for regular interactions.
