VMware vSphere 6 Deploy and Configure a vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA)

Please follow the steps below for instuction on how to deploy a VMware vCenter Server Appliance


Deployment and configuration steps

  1. Mount vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA) ISO
  2. Open the vcsa-setup.html in a compatible browser
  3. Review and accept the installation of the VMware Client Integration Plugin
  4. Click Allow
  5. Click Install
  6. Review and accept terms of the license agreement click Next
  7. Enter the FQDN or Private IP address, User name and Password of the VMware Host you would like to install the vCSA then click Next
  8. Click Yes to accept the certificate warning
  9. Enter a Appliance Name and OS Password click Next
  10. Select 'Install vCenter Server with an Embedded Platform Services Controller' as the deployment type then click Next
  11. Click 'Create a new SSO domain' click Next
  12. Choose an Appliance Size click Next
  13. Select a datastore click Next
  14. Select 'Use an embedded database (PostgreSQL)' click Next
  15. Setup you network configurations then click Next
    1. Choose a network (If no drop-down options are available, you must first configure a standard switch for VM traffic, see pre-requisites bullet: "Configure basic network contruct for the vSphere hosts")
    2. IP address Family
    3. Network Type
    4. Network Address
    5. System name
    6. Subnet mask
    7. Network gateway
    8. Network DNS Servers

    9. Configure time sync
  16. Review settings then click Finish to start the provisioning of your vCSA instance
