SoftLayer delivers real-time bandwidth graphs inside the customer portal to track bandwidth usage for both the public and private networks. Four different graphs are supplied for customer view and are updated every 5 minutes.
- The first graph is a “daily view” graph that depicts all traffic to and from the server during the current 24 hour day. This graph is a static graph and will always show the traffic utilized from 12:00AM midnight to 11:59PM of the current day.
- The second graph is a “weekly view” graph that depicts all traffic to and from the server over the past 7 days. This graph is a rolling graph and will always show the traffic utilized over the seven days leading up to and including the current day.
- The third graph is a “monthly view” graph that depicts all traffic to and from the server based upon the calendar month (ex. March 1 -31). This graph will reset to zero as the month passes into the new month. The graph will continue to scale as time elapses into each month (i.e. you will see more days appear as the days elapse into the month). Click on the details of this graph to see raw bandwidth data for each day during the calendar month. You can also graph each day separately by selecting the graphing feature on each day of the month.
- The fourth graph is your “billing cycle view” graph and it depicts all traffic to and from your server during your billing cycle (example March 15 – April 14). It also calculates your “anticipated traffic usage” for your billing cycle. This is simply an estimation of your anticipated usage based upon historical traffic. Your graph and estimated usage will reset to zero at 12:00pm midnight on the eve prior to your anniversary date. Click on the details of this graph to see raw bandwidth data for each day during the billing cycle. You can also graph each day separately by selecting the graphing feature on each day of the month.
