SuSE, while similar to other RPM based distributions, does not use yum or up2date but rather YaST.
YaST can be initiated either in an interactive mode, that uses a ncurses front-end, or via CLI (command line).
Installing packages CLI - Install via direct path to RPM or Short Name.
- yast2 -i /root/rpms/custom.rpm
- yast2 -i apache2 apache2-devel php5 php5-bz2 php5-ctype php5-curl php5-devel php5-dom php5-exif php5-fastcgi php5-gd php5-iconv php5-json php5-mbstring php5-mysql php5-openssl php5-pear php5-timezonedb php5-xmlrpc php5-zlib
ncurses - navigate to your choice, select and finish to apply the changes
 Alt+F to change the Fitler
Alt+R (or enter) to enter into the RPM Groups
Select the group you wish to browse through
Select the package you wish to manage
Alt+T to pull up the Actions list and select the action you wish to perform. After you are used to the hotkeys, as listed in the actions menu, you may use those rather than the Actions menu itself.
After you have finished your adjustments you may use Alt+A to Accept. Confirm any required dialogs and finish.
