Portable Storage

Portable Storage Volumes are secondary storage solutions that are exclusively available on our Virtual Servers. They may be connected to one Virtual Server at a time and are an ideal solution when looking to transfer data between Virtual Servers that exist in any data center on our network. Portable Storage Volumes are useful for database applications that require access to raw, unformatted block-level storage and for moving large data sets between Virtual Servers.

When a Portable Storage Volume is attached to a VSI in a different Datacenter than the original VSI, our internal system copies the volume to the SAN in the new Datacenter, verifies the integrety of the copied volume and then removes the original Portable Volume from the original Datacenter SAN.
